MILF

I’ve decided to stake my claim a bit in the milf origin. I’m seeing people claiming that they created it first (wrong) so I posted a page and I’m going to update the wikipedia article yet again in hopes to cement my claim!

I riffed on this before, and not it creeps up again. What the fuck is wrong with this country lately?

Resolved

June 22nd, 2008 by trace

HBO has this Documentary film festival going on where they feature one every Monday evening. It’s been quite entertaining. The one from last week was the best so far. It was called Resolved and it was about high school debating. When I was on the debate team it was a nice civil affair. It has since devolved into sheer insanity where the speakers literally speak up to 200 words per minute trying to cram as much as they can into their alloted time. What made this film interesting was that in addition to showing us debating in its current form, it also follows a couple of kids from a public school near LA that decide that their entire focus will be on bringing down the system as it currently is. It’s pretty cool stuff and also pretty amazing and mostly it all made me feel incredibly stupid. I reccommend you check it out.

Whats up with the DNC today?

June 1st, 2008 by trace

Look, I know as well as anyone that it’s really up the party who they choose as their nominee and I’m fine with the whole delgate, convention thing. But can someone please tell me how it is at all fair in any way that Florida and Michigan are getting to seat any of their delegates? I mean, as I understand things, a while before the election, the DNC told these states (and thier voters) that they were not going to get to seat their delegates. That did 2 things: 1) some, maybe most of the voters did not even vote since they knew their votes would not be counted and 2) the candidates did not campaign in those states.

To now allow delgations from those states is quite unfair to the voters of those states that did not vote and the candidates who did not campaign as hard. What the fuck man?

The Bees

Am I the only one worried about the bees? I’m really upset more people aren’t concerned about them. I mean, what is happening?

I don’t trust Discovery Network

May 5th, 2008 by trace

First it was the exposure of Bear Gryllis (who I still kind of like) and his show. And now I’m seeing reports of “creative editing” on Deadliest Catch. What’s up with that? I mean, this network used to be the leader in cool outdoor adventure programming, now every time I watch something there I wonder if it’s true or not. I’m really starting to worry about the erosion of truth in America (see : George W. Bush, etc.). It seems that there isn’t enough outrage. The media was supposed to be our check against lies. It was supposed to be the one looking out for us. Now as the world becomes more complex and interconnected and the media is so expanded, it seems that we don’t have a source of truth anymore, just a bunch of opinions on who to trust. BBC anyone?

It’s not about slavery dumbasses!

May 1st, 2008 by trace

I’ve seen a lot of stories in the media today about how Senator Fumo so shockingly said what he said, but almost none about the real fight here for the rights of homosexuals to couple. What the fuck is going on? A couple of people (usually very critical of the Senator) seem to be getting the real story (here and here) . People, see through the BS and find the issue here: There may be a constitutional amendment on the ballot come November (remember 2004??) about Gay marriage (and in this case this one could be really bad, banning civil unions as well) that is only going to benefit McCain and the Bigoted/Racist Republican scum.

The fight

Senator Fumo makes his point in a rather unorthodox way. (follow up explanation)

DFA Wireless

Howard Dean’s advocacy group Democracy For America has started a cell phone company that donates 10% of your payments to their group. They offer to buy out your old contract (up to $175) and the best part? They have pledged to not submit to warrantless wiretapping! They are using the Sprint network and appear to have a number of nice phones (though no replacement for my awesome LG Vx8350). I’m fairly certain I’m going to switch over.
